Each winter, our tall ships head off on a Trans Atlantic adventure with an exchange programme of up to 70 students with our partner Ocean College. The programme is a ‘School on a Ship’. It is an adventurous, exciting alternative to traditional lessons in an old dusty school building. Ocean College www.oceancollege.eu turns a traditional sailing ship into a travelling classroom for high school students and gap year students.

Cross-curricular and place-based teaching and the combination of theory and practice are intended to open up new educational horizons, because the world for which conventional school prepares no longer exists. For this purpose, Ocean College relocates the school of the participating young people to the Atlantic Ocean for six months. During this journey into life, the young people get to know themselves under challenging conditions, learn to work in a team and experience different cultures off the tourist track under sustainable travel conditions.
