We have successfully made it to Emden ready to begin the 2021 Ocean College Summer School Voyage.
After a busy day of arriving, unpacking, all around introductions and "Living Aboard" briefings, the Ocean College students woke up to their first full day as voyage crew on board the Tall Ship Pelican of London. Up until lunch they did a 'Steering and Lookout' briefing with the Second Mate, Practical Seamanship with the Bosun team and a Safety Walk Around with the Third Mate. After lunch they had a 'Harnesses Fitting'-session and a "Parts of the Ships" and Daily Routines briefing with their watch leaders.
At 5 o' clock in the afternoon the ship departed Emden and the voyage crew stepped into their new watch routines. This has been a great opportunity for them to put into practice all of the many things they've learned over an exciting day of training, and start getting used to life at sea!
