Matt recently joined the Pelican crew, at the end of summer 2021. Matt has been qualified since 2018 but beforehand he has been working mainly on very different vessels from the Pelican.
Matt was inspired to become a Second Mate by his parents. They both met on a Cruise Ship whilst his Father was the Second Mate and his Mother a Cruise Dancer! From his parents he had heard the wonderful stories of life at sea and wanted to pursue a maritime career himself.
The Second Mate said that the best part of his job is “the people that I work with, everyone wants to be onboard which makes the ship a happy place.”
