Jakki Owens
Health & Medical Lead
An expedition medic with a love for all things outdoors, Jakki first ventured on Pelican of London in 2022 and immediately fell in love with sailing. With her background as a paramedic in the Scottish Ambulance Service, Jakki moved into remote medicine with a postgraduate degree in expedition and wilderness medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. This has taken her across the globe working in a variety of environments and she now specialises in maritime, tropical and sub-Arctic. After working for a year in the Caribbean, Jakki has made the move to Ireland. A place she first visited sailing with Pelican of London and instantly knew would be home. When acting as the ship’s medic onboard Jakki is responsible for the medical health and safety of the crew. This doesn’t stop her having as much fun as possible during voyages and loves to get involved with anything the Mates and Bosun will indulge her in. If she gets to wear a climbing harness all the better.

She first became an ambassador, hoping to be able to assist in providing opportunities for many more young people to experience the adventures, sail training on tall ships before taking on the role of Administration & Marketing Assistant.
