Our friends, City to Sea, have published the initial findings from their UK Wide Plastics Survey during the summer, on board Pelican of London during this year’s UK circumnavigation Darwin200 voyage.
Over 3,000 miles covered, 47 beaches surveyed with 13 weeks on board
The project aims were:
• To understand the distributions, abundances and sources of plastic pollution around the UK
• To understand the prevalence of plastic pollution in MPA’s, MCZ’s, SAC’s and IFCA’s
• Identify the presence of micro plastics in marine environment (particularly in protected areas)
You can read the initial findings and methodology on their website: https://www.citytosea.org.uk/plastics-research-project/
Definitely worth a read.
